As COVD vaccinations gave the promise of the return to normalcy in 2021, The Jesuit Retreat Center of Los Altos was still in lockdown but began making plans to return hosting retreats on our beautiful campus. Everyone enjoyed the virtual retreats that our pastoral staff offered but looked forward to meeting in person once more.
Now available online, the 2021 Annual Report is an overview of how the Jesuit Retreat Center fared during that year.
As the Retreat Center began the shift from COVID to post pandemic operations, our financial support from in person retreats began to grow. The year 2021 ended with a fund balance/net assets of $4,450,858.
While JRC began to shift back to in-house retreats, we saw an uptick in interest in the Retreat Center from around the world, created by the virtual retreats.
Costs for administration, facilities maintenance, daily operations, and spiritual direction remained and, in some cases, increased.
Income from our donors was crucial in helping the Retreat Center remain on track to return to retreats on campus. Support from our donors remained crucial during this time and contributions continued to exceed expectations. Donations and foundation support represented half of the operating budget.
Costs for administration, facilities maintenance, daily operations, and spiritual direction remained and, in some cases, increased.
We are grateful for all the support The Jesuit Retreat Center of Los Altos received in 2021 and continues to receive.
