Thank you for being a friend of The Jesuit Retreat Center of Los Altos. Your generosity helps us to fulfill our mission — to bring people closer to Christ.
People come to El Retiro to participate in retreats, training programs, workshops, and spiritual direction. However, our fees do not cover the full expense of our programs. Your gift enables the involvement of those who otherwise could not afford to come.
And we strive to maintain tranquil places for people to reflect and pray on our 38-acres.
Just this past year, the support of our donors allowed us to completely renovate Loyola Garden — including the installation of the Homeless Jesus sculpture.
Numerous volunteers have assisted with gardening, trail maintenance, bench replacement, and creation of the labyrinth.
Your gift supports all of the programs and facilities of El Retiro.
Financial assistance to retreatants
Upkeep of our eight buildings
Landscaping of the 38-acres.
An unrestricted gift is most helpful because we can direct your donation to where it is needed most.

The hearts of many are drawn to the encounter with Christ and to the spiritual freedom that are key graces of the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius.
El Retiro’s mission is that this ministry of Ignatian prayer be available to all who seek these graces. We have tried, over the decades, to keep retreat rates affordable and to make financial assistance available to any who need it. Today this means donations from our generous friends subsidize about half the cost of each retreatant’s stay.
Maintaining the historic structures and gracious ambience of The Jesuit Retreat Center of Los Altos is a task without end. We must comply with safety guidelines, keep each of our buildings comfortable and in good working order, and tend the 38-acres of gardens, grounds, and paths.
Providing for the needs of our guests, extending to each a warm welcome, preparing and serving ample and nourishing meals, and making available skilled and caring spiritual directors requires a versatile and committed staff
Charitable bequests and other planned gifts each year play an important role in keeping alive the El Retiro tradition. Your gifts make you a partner in our ministry.
