Description of the Jesuit Retreat Center
The Jesuit Retreat Center of Los Altos, the only residential Jesuit Retreat Center west of the Rockies, provides adults of all faiths and walks of life with the spiritual direction and tranquil environment to enhance their spirituality.
Since its founding in 1925, the cornerstone of The Jesuit Retreat Center
has been the centuries-old tradition of the Spiritual Exercises of Ignatius
Loyola. The Exercises are a means of achieving a greater intimacy with
God in order to become more responsive to God, other people, and the
demands of one's own vocation. The Jesuit Retreat Center staff of dedicated
retreat directors, sometimes with the assistance of outside directors,
offer quality retreat programs, individual spiritual direction and sacramental
healing services built on this rich heritage.
In addition to the spiritual retreat programs held primarily on the weekends, Retreat Center facilities are made available weekdays to select nonprofit organizations and school groups (high school and college) for their retreats and meetings.
The Jesuit Retreat Center's beautiful, peaceful setting enhances prayer, reflection and inner healing. The Retreat Center is situated on 38 wooded acres in the serene, picturesque hills above Los Altos, yet easily accessible from major highways (Directions to The Jesuit Retreat Center). Colorful scented gardens and tree-lined trails on the grounds provide spectacular views and solitude for quiet walks. The Stations of the Cross and other outdoor shrines provide a natural setting in which to pray and meditate. Rossi Chapel stands tall in the background, welcoming all God's people. Meals are served in a hilltop dining room with panoramic valley and mountain views.
